Dr. Lynn's Story
Dr. Lynn Sellyei Akinyemi grew up in central New Jersey. Her family was very active and included multiple pets. As a child she was always outside playing, fishing or riding bikes. As a teenager, she kept active by playing sports. After high school, Lynn obtained an associates degree in environmental science. She then moved to Vermont where she fell in love with the mountains.
In her mid-twenties, Lynn moved back to New Jersey while she was preparing to continue her education. She worked at a greenhouse with her mother, Ruth. One day Ruth threw out her back at work. Their boss recommended seeing a chiropractor as it had worked for her. Lynn, however, had always been instructed by her family doctor to avoid chiropractors. As skeptical as she was, Lynn went with her mother to see Dr. Joe, the chiropractor. Dr. Joe was very informative and helped Ruth. Lynn went to her mom’s appointments and challenged Dr. Joe constantly. Eventually, Lynn started doing her own wellness care which included seeing the chiropractor frequently.
Lynn was no longer experiencing the almost daily migraines and felt very strong. This experience influenced Lynn in deciding to become a chiropractor so she could help others in the way she had been helped through chiropractic care.
