EXAMINATION

All patients will have a thorough exam to assess their complaint whether they are a new patient or it is a new complaint. The examination will consist of some or all of the following: range of motion(s), orthopedic tests, neurologic testing (reflexes, sensation, and/or some cerebellar/cerebral tests), muscle strength testing, etc. Each exam is specific to the patient’s individual needs. The results of the examination in combination with a thorough history will help produce the proper diagnosis and treatment. Occasionally some patients will need further evaluation. In this case, they will be referred out for x-rays, neurologist, orthopedist, blood work, rheumatologist, etc.

MYOFASCIAL RELEASE

Myofascia = Myo = muscle. Fascia is the tissue that covers muscles nerves, bones, ligaments, tendons, organs, bursae, etc. Myofascial release is a treatment intended to release tension in the fascia due to trauma (direct, repetitive motion, posture). If there has been trauma, the body tries to stabilize it by creating scar tissue or adhesions. Adhesions are sticky and do not let the muscles slide, glide and function as they are supposed to causing pain, discomfort, and improper function. CHIROPRACTIC ADJUSTMENTS

Chiropractic is an art, science and philosophy. It is considered an alternative medicine which focuses on pain and dysfunction of the musculoskeletal system, especially the spine. This directly affects the nervous system and is used to improve its function. Chiropractic is used by everyone from professional and Olympic athletes to newborn babies. There are many different kinds of adjusting techniques and systems of adjusting. Dr. Lynn uses Diversified techniques, mobilization, and the activator tool. She will modify how she adjusts patients according to their needs and what they can tolerate.
